Chief Art Officer

My name is Debbie O’Dell Selz, owner/instructor of The Traveling Paintbrush. I graduated from Texas Christian University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Family and Child Studies and am a Texas certifiedteacher for grades 1-8. I have worn many hats since graduation. I have been married to my best friend, Scott, for almost 36 years. We have three grown children: Chet, Klent and Karli and an adopted grand dog, Spike. Upon graduationI taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten in the public school system, then was blessed to stay home with our children during their formative years. In 1999 I became Office Manager for my husband’s dental practice for the next 14 years.We sold the practice in 2013 and Scott is currently on staff as a dentist for the Chickasaw Nation. I have worked part time at a boutique, taught art and music for grades PK-12 at a private school and finally fulfilled my dream ofbeginning my own fine arts home business in 2019. Taking that frightening first step has been one of the most rewarding actions I have done. God placed a passion in my heart and He has abundantly blessed, beyond my wildest dream,this journey over and over again. I have been a lifelong lover of all things creative and love sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. I still cannot believe I get to do this for my job! I wholeheartedly embrace that everyperson has creativity within them, all that stands in the way is fear and/or a lack of confidence.
